Zable said they would defer 2 months repayments verbally and by email. They honoured that. No problems on that front. During that time, I sought debt advice from the Advice Shop. The advice I received was, since my debt was for a really small amount, Zable would not come after me for it and basically my credit score would just take a hit. The Advice Shop woman also told me to get a new card and then they wouldn't be able to take money from my account, as they wouldn't have my new card number.

I now know that was not good advice, but it's still put me in a situation where I can't cover my direct debits, because money has been taken from my account that I hadn't covered for. Zable is not at fault here. The advice I was given is. Now I'm screwed.
I would go back to the advice shop & educate them over their bad advice, asking them to reimburse you for the charges that were taken.
Then contact bank to stop anymore, so long as it is not a fixed term contract.

I wish I had a £ for each time someone wonders whey when they have stopped their card that recurring payments still come through. Advise usually from someone they know..

Best to speak to bank going forward if you are facing issues.
Also pop into debt section & post statement of affairs. For advice 👍

The fact that CPAs can be stopped by the bank doesn't mean that it's a good idea to, especially when Zable requires monthly repayment by CPA, i.e. stopping the CPA could put OP in breach of the card terms:

    https://intercom.help/zable-60d36e39522b/en/articles/6047181-why-are-you-asking-for-my-card-details

We require your monthly payments to be charged by Continuous Payment Authority (CPA) rather than by Direct Debit. CPA is a type of recurring payment that is set up using your debit card details. You can set the amount and payment date that works best for you and we will send across a statement 5-8 days before your payment date each month. Your card details are stored securely in the App.

Whilst we do require a payment method to be set up before you are able to activate the card, please be assured that if you do not use the card you will not be charged.

Which is why I said "Unless fixed term contract" 👍

Did not realise it is a CC, so stopping it would have serious issues.

OP really need to speak to them & Barclays as clearly has payment issues. So needs to sort this out. Or it will just get worse.

Update: I have spoke with Zable and Barclays. Barclays have refunded the money taken from my account, de-linked my card and are issuing me with a new one. They also told me to contact Zable and tell them not to try to take any future payments from my account and get them to confirm it in writing. The situation with Zable is ongoing. I will seek further advice going forward with that. I have requested a call-back from the Advice Shop to let them know that their advice was wrong, but still waiting for that call.
