Dynamo Cover - Cancellation Scam

Took out european break down cover which I cancelled online (through their "diy-bot") after less than a month. According to their policy I am due the pro-rata amount of unused time, after subtracting a cancellation fee. In return to me cancelling online, however, Dynamo Cover pretend via email-link that they decide whether [or not] to actually cancel the policy, introduce some "brokerage fee", ignore the refund due, and set the cancellation fee as a de-facto ransom for accepting the cancellation of my cover. When calling, the agent sticks strictly to the aforementioned. Complaining about this results in yet another bot-response leading back to their disclaimer of how they pretend to having "resolved" the issue. For all I know, as it stands, Dynamo Cover will use my details to auto-renew my cover in a years time.
The financial ombudsman doesn't accept unresolved complaints younger than 8 weeks; will update.
Left alone emotions, this service is unjust and illegal.

Update: Given that my complaint is based literally on the policy terms, Citizens Advice suggested to pursue it in writing, with recorded delivery; and Dynamo Cover have now responded to this with an offer to refund the amount due.
  • I was staggered when I received a message yesterday stating that the "annual" increase was to applied against my policy after four months. The relevant Business Terms were only despatched post payment, so without searching them retrospectively and then cancelling within the cooling off period, it is unlikely that any applicant will be aware of this condition and unable to take corrective action in time. Technically, it appears to be legal to operate in this way, although I have certainly never experienced anything like it in my lifetime with any other organisation. I immediately cancelled the policy by return email and this message was rejected on the basis that the email account is no longer being monitored, presumably since that morning. I then raised a complaint and cancellation notice on the website and, even then, there was a tiny tick box asking if I wanted them to "act" upon my message, providing them with another loophole. The large comments box was only capable of containing about 220 characters, so nowhere near enough to enter a formal complaint with justifications. I was then told that my message would be considered during the coming days. My recommendation would be to avoid using this organisation under all circumstances, as the ethics that drives the business are not ones I have experienced from responsible and reputable businesses.
