Goodbye EE

Hi All,
Nearly 2 years ago, I took out a 24 month contract with EE for around £37pm which included a new iphone 11. Now I considered this like a loan for the iPhone, which is paid back monthly + the sim costs. I figured the phone portion of this would be around £25 pm. So coming to the end of the contract I was expecting a nice drop in costs due to the phone being paid off.
How wrong I was, after calling them they would have only reduced the cost automatically by 10%, I advised them that this was a disgusting practice as they are offering the same sim deal for £15 and that they are banking on being able to effectively overcharge their customers. I have now cancelled the contract on the basis that this is disingenuous of them to treat customers this way.
EE customers beware and keep an eye on your end dates.

I think it's the same with others as well. I was with O2 for years and upgraded my phone in 2018. My contract was £47 a month for 24 months (I don't have the details of how the charge was split I'm afraid). When it came to the end of the contract, it was May 2020, at the height of the pandemic, I had been furlough'd and then made redundant, so money was (and still is tight), I got a letter from O2 basically saying that my contract had reached it's minimum term and my monthly charge would be going down to about £30ish pounds a month (I don't know the exact figure), I basically laughed at this, as my phone was paid off, so I don't know how they justified charging me this much. I had already made plans to move to a sim only deal with Sky for £6 a month and already got my PAC from O2, the letter just crossed over.
Even the sim only deals at the time with O2 were shocking.
I have been on a Sim only deal ever since and will most likely never take out a contract again.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £30,358.132 -
Take a look at Uswitch for some decent sim only deals.
I used Uswitch earlier this year when Three pulled the plug on roaming and got 5GB plus unlimited calls and texts with O2 for £6 per month plus a free trial on Disney plus. If you want to pay a bit more then the savings can be very competitive.

Your abusive attitude is foolish, it would have been easy to negotiate a nicely discounted tariff with EE, I always have.

Which is usually code for "I just assumed".So when your assumption turned out to be wrong, you think it's EE's fault. Which it probably wasn't.As above, no such thing as a free lunch. You're entitled to your opinion and to tell EE where to shove it, but at the end of the day they are businesses, not charities.

I was of course referring to your apparent abusive attitude towards EE staff, not to your posting here. For example if you Interacted in the style of 'advising them that this was a disgusting practice' you were closing the door to the chance of a good discount.

To make a point I did ask for there best deal and it wasn't competitive, so goodbye EE!!I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0
