Package Holiday Outbound Flight Cancelled

Hi, have a package holiday booked via Travel Republic (with Atol package holiday protection) and looking for some advice pls?
Received notification last night (21/9) that my Turkish Airlines flight to Antalya from Gatwick has been cancelled for the 5/10.
Having spoken today with Travel Republic my options were to book an alternative flight with Turkish Airways for the following day or rebook flights with another company at additional cost to me. I don't want to cancel the holiday or travel on an alternative day so have reluctantly paid £253 to move my flights to another company.
Can anyone advise if correct procedure has been followed or if I am due any compensation?
Feels unfair that the flight has been cancelled due to no fault of my own but I am left out of pocket due to it.
Thanks

This is very similar to the scenario discussed in another thread earlier in the month, which concluded that the agent should have absorbed the cost difference:

If you were offered an alternative flight for the following day, the holiday price for that option should have been reduced to reflect the shorter duration.
In terms of the separate UK/EU 261 regulations, flight cancellation compensation wouldn't apply to a cancellation notified two weeks before travel.0 -
The travel organiser is responsible for replacing cancelled flights, not you. Ask for your money back0
