They wrote to me offering Fibre upgrade, "no change to cost, contract or add ons."
I know they have to do this at some point, so why not.
We agreed a date, Openreach used rods to thread the cable a very long distace (50m) whilst the copper was still in place, which was just as well because there were problems at their end they needed sort the next day. Don't let them pull the cable through using your copper wire, if there are issues you will have no BB.
They tell you you will have a two week stabilisation period and may experience drop outs and fluctuations in speed. I certainly did. It has improved two weeks in.
So, relatively painless...... You don't get the super router. You still can't get through to TT chat. My phone is still tending to disconnect from the internet saying "connected without internet" _any suggestions?
The real problem was the promise not to alter my contract.... They added 18 months! The good news is rather than be reported for miselling they offered me 6 months free.
Anyone who has had this done should check their contract, it was not a mistake, they meant to do it.

TBH I'd expect a new contract to be started in this situation & it was a mistake in their initial communication. Why would they do all the work to get it installed then not tie you into a contract?0

Absolutely, but they should say so. They said the opposite. Infact, as it is a new contract you can just leave within 30 days. As to why they are doing it... I understand Openreach is doing it at a discounted rate because of low take up rates.0

OR do incentivise ISP’s to get their customer to switch to FTTP when it becomes available, chances are your move to FTTP hasn’t cost TT anything, so no reason why they should impose any extra contractual obligations on you , especially if they explicitly say the existing terms will continue , they may ( of course ) try it on.0
