Thanks so much, it took me ages to work this out for my spreadsheet but I've got there now with your help.

how are we on electricity, please?

9am reading is for electricity 64515.4 and same time next morning is 64524.5 how much has this cost at 16.61p per kWh rate.

    I've got this at 9.10 units used = £1.51?
Correct.  Electricity is much simpler, as you've noticed.

    Correct, calculation.
Nothing fancy to do there assuming you are on a single-rate tariff.

Yes, that's a little above average.

    Thank you.

Dual fuel, I was on a fixed rate tariff until the end of October with EDF Energy - hence the need to monitor the usage to try to find out where we need to cut back going forward - December 21 - end of Jun 22 = £823.96 total charges the best rate at the moment with EDF is double that by the looks of it.

The sad news is that the very best you will do will be the Standard Variable Tariff, and that means your gas price is going to more than treble, and your electricity is going to just over double in cost, but you will have at least the government help of £400 spread over 6 months from October and potentially other help you may qualify for...
These are the EDF rates for their Standard Variable Tariff...

Thank you, you are correct, the estimate for the monthly direct debit is £286, I wont be locked into a deal with them, so if anything does appear that beats this, I'll be able to opt out to another provider, although I doubt if any providers will make a significant saving for any of us - looks like keeping the gas radiators off more often this winter. Thanks for your help.
