Skoda don't provide a service book - how to record service history?

We got a new (brand new) Skoda a few years ago. It didn't come with a service booklet. They said they don't do them anymore - it's all recorded digitally. Our first few years the services were done by Skoda as the 'three year servicing' bundle was reasonable value. Each year, they printed us off a new document with a list of the services that had been done.

However, now it's older we're taking it to other garages. Without a service book to stamp, what do we do to 'prove' a full service history in future? We've kept the receipts from the services that have been done, but obviously they don't fully list out what's been done (with our other car, the service booklet has a list of tick boxes that get filled in each time).

I feel like Skoda's "digital" system is trying to tie you to using them for services...  :/

The invoice should be accompanied by a report (health report or similar) stating what has been done.  If you are not getting one, ask for it.
  • The invoice that my independent provides with each service lists items and consumables used in the service. Could you ask for that?

I'd add that although buyers are always keen to hear the phrase 'FSH' when buying a used car, very few will delve into the detail of what work was actually done, so your pile of invoices will do for most buyers. And with the best will in the world, it's a Skoda, not a Bentley.

I'd say the same were it a Ford, Peugeot, Volvo etc btw.

When I bought my 3 year old Skoda ( from a Skoda dealer) I was given all the invoices/receipts for the services done, although they were also recorded digitally.

Thanks all - I think the receipts/invoices from the independents do have some note of what was done, that's true.

Some independent garages also have access to the manufacturer service systems and can update the online systems as well. Back street garages won't have this facility though.

The digital service book is not a Skoda thing, pretty much every manufacturer has gone down that route for quite some time now. Some still do however have a service book alongside the online system.
  • You can buy Skoda service books on Ebay

Pretty much any garage carrying out a service should itemise what was actually done. If not you could always annotate it onto the invoice. You can also buy/download a book or make your own to the same design

A pile of invoices is much more useful than a stamped service book - anyone can have a rubber stamp made up.

Are you able to access and view the records for your car? That may put your mind at rest. It is all online now, I recently bought a new car and the dealer/finance/mechanical is all on different websites. Ask someone to show you.
