  • You could move.
It's pretty likely that your sort of house is going to become devalued over the coming years as energy costs become a much bigger concern for people.  Until now it's hardly been factored into buying decisions, but surely this has to change.
People obsess about mpg when buying cars and weigh this up against the cost, its equivalent for houses is the heating cost, and you have a Ferrari.

I think were are meant to be discussing energy concerns, not life choices. You know nothing about my circumstances so don't assume to judge them...

So if OFM is playing fast and loose with the rules, how do I switch to a company that is not ? And who are they ?
Absolutely any other supplier will not do what OFTM have done...
That said, the only two likely to accept a switch are EDF or Octopus.at the moment, and you will have to phone them to do it...

I am trying to get switching quotes from EDF and Octopus. Let see if they are up for switching to their SVR tariff

  • EDF are more expensive than OFTM. 10,000 kWh quote works out as

    Yearly consumption (kWh)
    10,000

    OFM kWh Rate (£) 0.33531918
    OFM Daily Standing  Charge(£) 0

    EDF kWh Rate (£) 0.3372
    EDF Daily Standing Charge(£) 0.4914

    Days In year 365

    OFM Annual Cost (£) 3,353.19
    EDF Annual Cost (£) 3,551.36

OFM extra charge above cap rate (£) -198.17

I think you are comparing now an April SVT with an October SVT

The EDF rate is already the new rate from October.

It's still worth switching to Octopus for the £50 referral credit. Just phone them...

Have OFTM told you what rate you'll be paying after 1st October?

    Not seen anything yet...

Octopus seem to think all other companies are the same vanilla flavor, I got this when asking for a quote

Thanks for getting in touch, and great that you want to switch to us.
Truthfully, at the moment all suppliers are offering the same SV rates - so if you are switching for a better price unfortunately we cannot offer this right now. With this in mind if you do still wish to switch then just let me know and I can get this process in motion for you.

However I think there is some chili in mine :'(
