RPI inflation is a more accurate measure of inflation, RPI inflation is around 13% so they are really just increasing inline with inflation.
  • I am in a similar situation to others here regarding Shell energy. Except I didn't receive the notification that they were making the change that allowed them to add this increase, despite them having my postal and current email address. They have confirmed that they did not send anything to my email. I can only assume the letter it was lost in the post.

It gets more annoying as I took out a fixed price deal with the Post Office before they sold their business to Shell Energy and have had numerous letters stating there would be no contract changes from Shell. So – yeh.

As someone else mentioned here there really is no-where else to really go, all the providers are racing to the bottom and in effect there is zero competition. Yes I could go for a higher price really -honestly – promise – we – won't – raise - it deal and right now may do so as I am currently a very unhappy customer.

I complained to Shell Energy and they agreed to keep the price the same until the end of my contract which will be in November.
    Worth a try.
