Gatwick drop off mistake

Hi everyone. Some advice would be much appreciated.
This morning I drove through Gatwich drop off zone by mistake. I did not stop, drop off or pick up anyone. I missed the exit to short stay and drove through drop off area and exited.
Apparently now I have to pay £5. I checked the site and my car has been registered. So my question is why the grace period doesn't apply at Gatwick, or does it?
If I don't pay and get PN, can I appeal to POPLA?
Thanks

The NCP little game at the Gatwick drop-off area is currently being investigated by the BPA under complaint ref BPA-032489.
This includes a complaint that no grace period nor evidence of actually stopping is being obtained, so people who take a wrong turning and just drive through (in 2 minutes flat) were getting wrongful PCNs.
So, sit back and please tell us by the first week in October, whether you receive a PCN or not. Please come back to confirm, even if NOT!
We assume you own the car and the logbook shows your current home address, not an old address as so many do. We need to be sure you would get a PCN to the right address.
DO NOT PAY £5.
It will be interesting to see if NCP are yet being required to change things to exempt people like the driver in your case. The complaint has been ongoing for over a month.
If you get a PCN you just appeal as keeper, saying "non-POFA, innit" and you win. 100% slam dunk.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thank you.
Is there an appeal template here?0 -
There is an appeal written in blue text in the NEWBIE sticky; did you miss it when you read the "NEWBIE please read these first" section? Just add the words as suggested by @Coupon-mad but do not modify, delete or add anything else.1

Read all the September 2022 APCOA threads your forum search finds when you change 'best match' to 'recent'.

I have a had a horror few days with this sort of thing.
Coming back from the airport today I stopped at a motorway service station and had a nap. I think I stayed over two hours. I only saw the parking information as I was leaving. I am now expecting a penalty notice.
Can I use the "non-POFA" defence here too?0 -
Only if it's a company that doesn't use the POFA (and assuming this was in England/Wales).
If you do get a PCN, read the NEWBIES thread first and start your own discussion if there are still any questions after reading it.
Obviously the first thing to do ISN'T appeal but the NEWBIES FAQS thread explains about Plan A.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

You will wait an awful long time for a "Penalty Notice"!

I'll ask again if and when a letter comes through.0 -

Well, it's now been more than two weeks and I have not received anything from either Gatwick or the service station. I guess I got away with it? Or is it too early to celebrate?0
