Change the blue bar cog to the word edit

Few posts recently have struggled to find how to edit or delete their posts. Changing the gear cog to the word edit would make it much clearer. No idea why a symbol was used rather than a word.

A cog is very often used as a symbol for 'settings'.
Most devices and websites use a cog/gear, so its a pretty universal icon.Debt Free as of 17/01/2009 Turtle Power!!

Thanks for this @Norman_Castle. The cog houses the 'edit' button but also the 'delete' button, for those who've been a member a little while and posted a certain number of times, so we keep them both tidied away under the one symbol.1

There does seem to be many unnecessary posts where people make a second post to amend what they said on a first one as they presumably don't realise that they could do an Edit or even Delete and re-post.Bob2 -

Ignore the number of forum users who fail to figure out the cog is the key to editing or deleting posts and that the words edit or delete are self explanatory.Do MSE understand what user friendly means?

Having any symbol consistently appear on the screen in that position would be an improvement !
