It's not my intention to bring up political debate here. My apologies.

I gave out their nationalities as claimed on passports, names, accent and gestures. Very likely they are fake through and through. I also try to warn fellow members here

Regarding police promises, they ensured me again and again they would clean up everything as we were shaking to find out what was going on in my house.

Tbh I'm loosing my faith to humanity ☹️
I apologise. It appears my sense of humour may have confused a few people here. You didn't say anything inappropriate.
Regarding the clean-up, I would certainly complain to the police about that. There is plenty of information online regarding how to do that. Occasionally promises are made by large public or semi public organisations that are not kept and it's important to let them know if standards aren't met.

My question is simply did the people that you met when you went round actually fit the idea of being a Japanese family, as their passports said?  Did you meet them before they moved in?

Were there any children or elderly people  involved in fleeing the house?

Did you undertake right to rent checks on the tenants? copy of their passport? Pass to the police. No need to be a detective.
I am sure others will state the "tenants" rights, but that does not stop you changing the locks, securing the property, taking the full deposit, removing their property to skip. If they choose to have recourse to that via the courts, I am sure the police will be ready for them.

OP.  It is an unfortunate fact of life that criminal networks exist and they will find ways of ensuring their income continues.

You can do everything right, but sometimes you end upon the wrong end.

A friend values properties, he went to what he thought was a HMO recently to value it for sale.  The house was recorded as a 6 person property, in one room he found four sets of bunk beds. He estimated 30-40 people were living there.

Of course you can do what you want and anyone can break any law they wish. However there are always potential repercussions of this. The OP just needs to be aware they would be breaking the law and there are potential repercussions of these actions. Now should the tenant wish to pursue this avenue is up for debate (probably unlikely IMO) but none the less the OP should be aware of all the facts and then make a decision.

I agree. I see little point in giving the OP the 3rd degree now. I sense the OP's more upset that the police also didn't live up to promises made.

Clearly there was a miss understanding between what the police said and the OP understood them to have said. The police will indeed clear up but normally that's only the plants and equipment, they are taken away logged as evidence and then destroyed. What they don't and wont do is clean up

I would not take the Police saying they'd clean up and not as a broken promise.  It is entirely understandable that you were totally shaken up by the experience but, in that moment, may also have interpreted something more than was meant from the comments made.

The Police were never going to clean everything up, if "everything" includes the soil and stuff left in the loft.
What the Police might reasonably have done is to clear everything up if "everything" means to take all the cannabis and to pick up anything they may have dropped carrying it out the house and even any mud they may have walked into the house.  Even to clean up any powder if the Police took fingerprints etc.

Everything else is the outcome of the crime and not the Police's responsibility.  That is for the victim or the victim's insurance to resolve.
Sorry - that is not what you want to hear.
It is a bit like if a criminal breaks into the house by smashing a window - the Police will not repair the window.  The grow pots, heaters etc are all equivalent to the broken window.

Police officers cutting plants and shoving them into bags making some unavoidable mess being asked if they're going to clear up the mess. Officers agreeing to clean up the mess they're making, op presuming this means the loft will be cleared entirely.
