I think the way its working is just weird.

What should be happening is credit it all to account, reduce DD's by same amount.

The government consulted the energy companies on the scheme proposals - several energy companies pointed out that changing everyone's DD's would involved in a lot of (expensive) admin work.  Others said that if DD's were reviewed for the six-months of Winter, it could create perverse cases where people's DD's increased, even allowing for the £66/£67 reduction.

There are reasons why the scheme has been designed with this flexibility, although this isn't necessarily obvious to people who haven't read the full consultation response document.
  • And it is worth remembering it is taxpayers money.
Pity its not WINDFALL taxpayers money regurgitated from excessive profits (and the % they make isnt the issue, rather the total profit)
  • I'm also with Shell, who haven't yet published rates for 1st Oct. Is there a deadline that they (all energy firms) have to meet in communicating the increases?
As switching times have been reduced, then it is now up to suppliers to inform you in a reasonable timeframe.
