Shell Energy crafty tactics around the £400 october energy rebate

I have had an e-mail from my energy provider (Shell) advising me of what will happen when the £400 hits in October.  They have told me the £400 wont be credited to my electric account, as I expected, but instead I will have it spread over 6 months.  The first 2 months they will credit my energy account with £66 and then the subsequent 4 months with £67. So they will receive the £400 per household in October but drip feed it to their customers over a period of 6 months! Further to this they also announced that my monthly direct debit will reduce to reflect the credit. So if I pay £200 a month then this will be automatically reduced to £134!  This whole plan seems like a bit of a scam to me! Why not credit all their customers with the £400 when its received?  I cant help but wonder that this scheme of theirs is only working to benefit them! (More cash in their bank!)  Obviously I will pay my regular direct debit, i was under the impression the government scheme wasn't to reduce what we pay, but more to assist with the rising prices.  Has anyone had anything similar with any other suppliers?
