My GP had a gastric band fitted by keyhole surgery.

He had a 200 mile taxi journey home.

He said, despite the taxi driver driving no more the 30mph, the journey was agony.
I know I shouldn't but I just find the fact a GP needed a gastric band operation amusing.
Then a taxi for the 200 mile journey home and travelling at 30mph all the way and still didn't realise it would be painful.
I think on balance I'd get another GP because he sounds like Frank Spencer.

He was well aware it would be agony but had a disabled wife at home that he needed to get home to.
  • A lot to consider, thanks all

I had gastric surgery in this country and was advised not to drive for a month and only then when I felt comfortable doing an emergency stop so do not rely on your friend co driving on the way home. I would probably have been able to fly after a week but would not have coped with carrying luggage or waiting in line for long in airports.
