Just for info in case this is useful to others, I was able to transfer my Nationwide Fixed Term Maturity ISA into their 2-year fixed rate ISA @ 4.5% in my local branch today. (As per my message above, you cannot do this online if it's more than 30 days since the previous Nationwide fixed rate ISA matured).

In retrospect I should have done it when the original ISA matured but rates were rising at the time and it was looking like the rates they were offering would be beaten within a week or two, whereas rates have plateaued and many providers have actually dropped their's.

As 4.5% is better than the current highest-paying Cash ISA (publicly) available, I thought it was worth a punt and decided it was worth a trip into town (rather than relying on the post) in case they pulled it any time soon. Obviously only time will tell if this was a wise decision !

Where did you see the 4.5% ISA from Nationwide? I can see a bond but not an ISA
These ISAs are currently only available to people with maturing Nationwide fixed rate ISAs.

Nationwide were responsible for the prolonged wait, so on the application form I just put in 13/10/2022 as the original maturity date, and cleared it with an Nationwide agent that I've done this, who said it should sitll be fine.
This was opened successfully yesterday and backdated to the day I filled out the form (i.e. Friday).

It's basically kept the same roll (account) number as the original maturing 18-month ISA and the maturity ISA, and even shows transaction history all the way back including interest earned in the maturity ISA and the 2 interest payments (anniversary + maturity) under the previous 18-month fix.
  • Bumping this for those of us who took the 4% FRISA for a year maturing over the next few weeks. Has anyone had their maturity pack yet?

Mine matures on 6 October and all I've received is a pop-up when I login, suggesting 'why not consider another of our savings account?'  I've applied for it to be transferred to Charter Bank, but received no acknowledgment from Nationwide - unlike Santander who have sent me umpteen letters checking that I REALLY do want to transfer out upon maturity!

Just received mine this morning, 5.5% for 1 year,
    5.6% for 2 year.
I think I will go for the 2 year option considering the Bank of England announcement, but who knows.

Thanks for updating this thread - I'm in the same position with the FRISA maturing on 10th October and I haven't had anything yet from Nationwide, but it is obviously imminent.

I was looking at the Virgin Exclusive 1 year FRISA at 5.85% but I already have a lump sum with Virgin fixed until Feb 2024 and this would take me over the £85k FSCS limit.

Fixing for 2 years at 5.6% may indeed turn out to be a good move if we have reached the interest rate peak now.
  • Just remember the Virgin isa shuffle as I like to call it.
If your within the 14 day cooling off period you can easily switch between Virgin isa to Virgin isa.
    I switched from a 3y 5.2% isa to their 5.5% 3 year and then 5.55% 3 year over 4 weeks I think it was.

  • My maturity pack arrived yesterday. My maturity date is 6/10/23

  • Looking for some help please.  I want to cancel my 1yr fix ISA with Virgin using the 14 day cooling off period and transfer it to the Easy Access ISA.  It has already been funded. Do I have to inform them by post or can I send them a secure message?
