Going on holiday to UK cottage during school 1/2 term. Cottage has 2G outdoors.

Will my iPhone 8 Plus work with 2G? Do you have any web link stating this? Do modern phones still work with 2G?

All phones in this country support 2G, including iPhones. All networks support 2G as well, EXCEPT Three UK and their MVNO’s (Smarty etc), so you’ll be fine, as long as your network has 2G coverage there (for example, you might have an EE phone and although they support 2G, it may be that only Vodafone or O2 cover where you want in 2G). My advice would be to check the coverage maps of EE, Vodafone and O2 to be sure.
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

Thanks Simax, for explaining things in detail. I now understand. I now know I can use 2G.  :0)
