They would lose their ethical integrity for one.

I have a car which qualifies, but I have suffered no financial loss because of it. The government haven't put up the cost of tax and the prices haven't changed.

Therefore my ethics of not wanting to join the US litigation culture to claim compensation for something I have not suffered a loss for does not sit right and sets the wrong precedence for me.

Others will have a different view and see any money they can gain as their entitlement just because it is available. Each to their own.

So it is not a no brainer for some of us.
I wouldn't buy your car now, knowing that the emissions figures are a lie and that whatever hack they came up to fix it will negatively impact the performance of the vehicle.

So while it is hard to quantify, you will likely get less for it when selling. It may be a few quid, it may be more. Since all the other similar cars will be affected the same way, there is no control group to compare against.

There is also the damage to your health from the additional emissions. Minor perhaps, and again impossible to quantify. Most of the victims are other people who breathed it in.

Just because these things are hard to put a figure on does not mean they are not worthy of a claim. Diminution of value claims have succeeded in the UK, despite the difficulty of determining how big the loss is.

I think the law firms were desperate for something to replace the PPI cases
And you did not need a Lawyer to claim that back

It didn't stop them, or a lot of people signing up to them though.
