It's done an settled, you're several years too late.
The potential loss is thousands in legal fees to reclaim a few hundred quid in compensation. You can win and still lose out.

They would lose their ethical integrity for one.
I have a car which qualifies, but I have suffered no financial loss because of it. The government haven't put up the cost of tax and the prices haven't changed.
Therefore my ethics of not wanting to join the US litigation culture to claim compensation for something I have not suffered a loss for does not sit right and sets the wrong precedence for me.
Others will have a different view and see any money they can gain as their entitlement just because it is available. Each to their own.
So it is not a no brainer for some of us.9 -

Most of the claims do have a clause that you will be responsible for a share of any losses, but most appear to have insurance backing to cover these costs. You need to check very carefully this is the case though.0 -
I've had, and still do have, diesels that 'qualify'
I've had no losses, achieve the MPG expected, so saw no reason to go down that route.5 -

The court case in Scotland is due to be heard in the Court of Session in Edinburgh this month.0 -
Regardless, nobody in the UK suffered a loss from devices designed to cheat tests in countries like the US by lowering output that isn't part of the tax system in the UK so nobody is due compensation

Someone has had a bright idea - we might be able to make some money out of this - of course all claims will somehow be backed up so if it is rejected they still make money.I have yet to meet someone who bought a diesel car on the basis of emmissions - super economy Yes1

I’m of the same mind as others in that I drive a 2013 Freelander which according to one of the firms on the TV qualifies. However it’s my belief that these firms are simply generating business on the back of the dieselgate claims which related to VW in particular in falsifying figures thereby ‘mis-selling’ to customers. I don’t consider I was mis-sold my car, it’s certainly not a VW, so morally haven’t got a claim. I suppose I could make one though?Someone I worked with drove a VW and never gave a thought to emissions when they bought it, it was simply the best car for their needs, and the finance best suited their budget. But when they read about the dieselgate claims, they changed their opinions altogether and made a claim.1
