BT Home Essentials

My Broadband contract with BT was expiring on 16/11/2022. So I was looking for a new contract. 

I started of with BT and for the same contract, 50Gb, they wanted to add on a whacking big increase. Enter 'MoneySavingExpert' where I stumbled across something called 'Home Essentials' which I'd never heard tell of before I checked the criteria and yes it applied to me.  

I phoned BT and had a very helpful lady speak to me, within ten minutes I was accepted. Now I have an increase in speed - to to 72Gb, a cut in my monthly bill, an updated line, and a new phone with unlimited minutes. I'm happy.

Now that I'm staying with BT I wonder if I can get one of their set top box's at decent  discount.  I already have a Humax HDR-FOX T2 500GB but two TV's. I don't really need it but if it was at a decent price I would buy

Home Essentials is the old BT Basic, the social tariff only available if you're eligible for it.  It will wipe the floor price wise with the rest of the market.

Re: the Youview box, I believe you will only be renting this. and may have to return it at the end of your contract/if you stop being provided by BT  You can buy them outright from the likes of Amazon.
