Universal Orlando (Portofino Bay on-site hotel) refusing to return Child’s soft toy left in hotel

What if the soft toy was full of cocaine?
On this occasion I can understand the company policy and see why they have declined.
It's far too high risk and would inevitably backfire on them at some point.
Most parents have this moment where a child loses their favourite toy.
Ebay, Facebook marketplace are good places to find a replacement (or near enough).
If not possible, just suck it up - stuff happens and we can't always make it right. That's part of growing up!2 -

I’d imagine it’s probably ended up in the bin long before now, sorry.‘When you only have two pennies left in the world, spend one on bread and the other on flowers. The bread will sustain life, the flowers will give you a reason to live.’Frugal living in 2024.

Aside from all the other reasons and assuming the OP is genuine, soft toys carry germs. Not saying they will have coronavirus germs but if I were the hotel management I'd not be returning it either. Far too much faff. If it was my child's toy it'd be replaced by some other lovely sparkly soft toy (what child could resist?!) and that'd be the end of the (Disney) tale.
Sadly given the OP's history, I don't think this is a genuine post but I certainly wouldn't have expected any hotel to send a shabby old soft toy back to me, child's beloved toy or not. Children do get over these things and in my experience, very quickly too.
It's not rubbish customer service at all. It's a sensible business decision. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Perhaps spend less time thinking about which UK newspapers you'll try peddle the story to, and get down to Smyths and pick up a new teddy.I used to be seven-day-weekend1
