Exchange USD to GBP

Hi. I've got a not insignificant amount of USD that were surplus to my travels in the USA from a couple of years ago. With the dollar / pound exchange rate being very favourable at the moment, what is the best / safest way to exchange this currency. With the upcoming rise in energy bills and inflation at home the GBP's would be more use to me than USD tucked away in a drawer! Many thanks for any advice .....

Anywhere except an airport foreign exchange.
The amount you get from various places will depend on what rates you can find out about by googling. And then will have changed by the time you get to them. A penny difference one way or the other won't cover you energy DD unless you're talking about very very large amounts of USD.
