My brother flew in to Malaga this morning and here's what he found
New scam with the hire cars. You need a photo licence and international and passport and credit card. Plus docs must have the exact same wording full names and no initials.
Everyone is getting caught out. Brits Dutch, French etc. With slight variations
Amazingly, the "law" changes when you buy their insurance.

Firstly what is an ‘internatational’ please?
We are currently in Majorca, and we picked up our hire car a few days ago. They weren’t entirely happy with my OHs driving license as it doesn’t have a photo (old green paper type) but accepted it and just said we ought to think about updating it. OH offered to show them his passport but they said there was no need, nor did they take any credit card details.
This was pre booked and paid for in full before we travelled and with Vanrell . It was noticeably more expensive this year but talking to other guests here everyone remarked how much it had gone p since last year (we stay in a small boutique hotel with virtually the same people each year and need a car as it is quite remote).I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. My husband still has the old paper license and an international driving license with a photo that matches his passport. He'll do the DVLA code next week.
Just checked with SIXT and they are asking for two proofs of address less than 3 months old. That's a new one on me.
