ESA due on what is now a bank holiday

Hi. My ESA is due on Monday 19th September which has now been made a bank holiday due to The Queens funeral. As on other bank holidays, will my ESA be paid early as in this week on Friday 16th instead? I cannot find any details online about this. I am wondering because it seems the bank holiday was announced not so long ago so is there enough time for the DWP to change the due date? Thank you.

I would work on the assumption that there hasn't been enough time to bring the pay date forward, and so to expect payment on the 20th.1

Although given the same time limitations have applied to everyone, including the banks, could it be payments are just made (and received) as normal next Monday?Silvertabby said:I would work on the assumption that there hasn't been enough time to bring the pay date forward, and so to expect payment on the 20th.1 -

I'm not sure how that would work because banks are closed. I think people are just going to have to wait and see what happens.

Bank branches will be closed but their 'systems' always run so it depends on when the ESA payment is made. If it's paid on Monday it'll show on the account.poppy12345 said:

It's not the same as it's HMRC but all Child Benefit and Tax Credit payments that are due to be paid on 19 September are being paid on the 16th. If HMRC can do it...

Thanks everyone. I am hoping as Robbie64 said, if HMRC can do it then the DWP can also! 🤞1

I received my DLA yesterday but not my ESA which are usually paid on the same day, could this be because people on legacy benefits are being move this week. Not received a letter but find it strange I got one benefit and not the other. First time it's happened in 14 years.0

First time it's happened in 14 years. No, not everyone claiming legacy benefits are being invited to apply for UC this week and even if they were, this wouldn't be the reason why you didn't receive your money yesterday. There were some people that didn't receive their money yesterday and it was most likely because they were missed. This bank holiday was only announced at the beginning of last week so there was a lot of work to do to make sure people got paid yesterday. In doing so, some people were overlooked. If you don't receive it Tuesday then you will need to ring ESA and ask.0
