    Wishful thinking, I'm afraid

I am an intermediary and not infallible. If you can find guidance to that effect I'd be delighted to see it.
I can’t find it now but has anyone got a list of all the changes when the amount went from £20k-£30k?

im sure one of the changes was that all debts would be included even if not listed

    Nope.........that`s exclusive to bankruptcy.

Ideally you phone and get the balance on the day the DRO is submitted

As fatbelly has commented, you phone around your creditors on the day you submit your application, to get your up-to-date outstanding balances, this is to ensure your debts are under the 30k threshold.

Is it true that once you have done a DRO if you included your main debts then even debts not included officially are as good as included?

once it shows on your credit file that someone did a DRO at that point all creditors can see it and will assume that theirs is included?

    Absolutely not.

One recurring problem is that as debts get sold on, the present owner assumes their debt is not included - even if it was.

So it doesn’t really matter then if a debt was included or not?

just ignore all the letters and debt collectors calling round

soon they are going to be very busy with the amount of people who can’t afford to pay their bills and debts

Of course, it matters, debts included in a DRO are officially written off on completion, so a creditor has no remedy against you.

Any debts not included can be chased as per the normal collection process.

The legislation is quite clear on this, why are you trying to find ways around it?

If you want to include all you owe in a debt solution, but can`t remember what you owe or to whom, then bankruptcy is the only option open to you.

It sounds like debt collectors don’t check if the debts were written off or not?
