    I think my post must have been misunderstood, probably my fault. But anyway on those two points raised ..

    We're already finding out. Last time I looked at minute by minute figures wind varied from zero to 35% of total generation. Probably more now. The UK has pretty much bet everything on being able to make up that variable shortfall using gas fired generation.
