Slowest House On Street

Options
Am looking to move and found a house but when checking broadband it seems all other houses in the street can receive double the speed? Anyone able to explain why this is or what I could do about I?

How are you "checking" the broadband speeds?

Have you tried using the BT wholesale checker - https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL , you'll probably have to use the address checker as you don't yet have the phone to search against.

Because your house has a poorer quality line that will not support the typical speed of your neighbours? Or you are connected to a different street cab that is further away than your neighbours?
Those are the main two local factors that affect line speed.

How do you rectify - or find out if you have a poor conection?

Perhaps you can post the results of the DSL checker for the address in question and those either side , if you had ( for example ) three houses , all served from the same DP and at a similar distance from it ( and all the ‘pairs’ on the DP are routed in the same way to the same PCP ) then you would expect the speed each house gets to be broadly similar…if there is a large discrepancy it would suggest a problem, either in data ( so the speeds were actually similar , just the estimate is wrong ) or there is a difference in the way one of these properties is served between it and it’s neighbours, but it’s impossible to judge without any information
