Cool off time for airline tickets

Imagine someone booked an airline tickets via Kayak, Skyscanner etc, made a mistake in a departure date (or due to a bug in the booking system) and noticed it seconds after paying. Is there a cooling-off time when customer support is required to cancel it for free?

No. Unless you booked a flexible ticket which can be amended. Down to you to check you’ve got the details right before you click the pay button. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

Depends on their T&C's, but there is no legal right.

Some airlines allow a 24 hour period where you can cancel for free, so you will have to check with the airline.
On top of that if you booked via an agent (likely if you go via Kayak/Skyscanner?) then you'll need to check with the agent as well to see if their T&C's allow it.1 -
Agree with the answers already given (unfortunately).
Most scheduled tickets have a 24h ticketing condition. This means the flight needs to be ‘ticketed’ within that period or the reservation will auto cancel in many airline reservations systems. If you book with an airline or a good travel agent they can amend or cancel in that pre-ticketing period if a mistake is made. The problem you have is that you picked an online ticket seller via a meta search business. The online company is likely not to care a jot about your mistake and reaching someone with in those first 24hrs is very likely going to be difficult. Even if you reach someone, they in turn would probably need to escalate to their admin/ticketing team. I just can’t see it happening. Certainly give it a try. Unless T+C’s say otherwise, you are looking for a good will gesture and extra effort from their side. Be humble.1 -
Many (not all) airlines have a free 24 hour cancellation for those flight booked directly with them with various exclusions eg does not apply for flights in the next 7 days
EasyJet charge £49 in first 24 hours, non-refundable after
If you booked with a third party in general there is no cooling off and if you need to change dates you will need to look at both the airline fees plus the third party fees to do so.1 -
Had this with Flybe recently.... Charged me £45 to change a date a few mins after booking. I contacted them and they cancelled the charge.1

There is no legislation for a cooling off period when buying flights.
Each airline has its own policy regarding changes.
Most airlines will not refund you for cancelling (unless you booked a refundable flight )
Some airlines will allow you to change the date ,you will have to pay if there is a difference in price ( higher ) and are unlikely to receive any refund if the fare has gone down .What was the airline ?0
