I'm not sure but if you're looking for an alternative, I hear a lot of good things about air-source heat pumps. Might be worth looking into x

You might well have a very long wait. The Government has set a target for the rollout of heat pumps which is in danger of not being met. If anything they are going to have to look again at the Scheme: I don’t believe that new gas boilers will be something that the Government will wish to support. It would be a bit like the Government bringing in a scrappage scheme for old diesel cars and then subsidising new diesels.

It may be worth contacting your local authority. My LA has a grant designed to improve the energy efficiency whilst helping vulnerable people less susceptible to the cold. However, they require a letter from the applicant's health practitioner stating it leaves them vulnerable to the effects of the cold. I'm surprised they had anything, although I won't be applying myself.
