Hi I have Outlook 2010 as my e mail client on my desktop and now TalkTalk are now changing their settings and it has been suggested i stop using Outlook because it is not supported by MS and the security isn't safe.
I have had Office pro 2010 on my Desktop since 2010.
What can i change my desktop email client to?
I am running windows 10.
TT have suggest a few but i would like to know what you guys think as it is really stressing me out and all i want is to be able to click on the icon on my desktop and the e mail client to open and when i send emails have a read receipt also like i do now on my outlook 2010
Thanks

Free options: eM Client (free for two email accounts or less), Thunderbird. I use both. They both work well. There is also the built in email client in Windows 10. It is called Mail. The above are all better email clients for home use than Outlook is. Outlook is designed for business use so has a lot of features that are not needed for home use.1

The Mail app can be a bit flaky. Try Thunderbird or eM Client.

Are you using a TT-specific email address? If yes then I'd suggest keeping that only for TT-related activities (account details and login etc.) and use a generic email (Gmail, Outlook etc.) for day-to-day use.
(If you leave TT then you'll likely lose your TT email account).
FWIW I have no issues with the W10/W11 Mail client with Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail or Outlook email accounts. (I don't have any ISP-specific email accounts).Jenni x2 -

Up date.
My Outlook 2010 e mail client is still working even though talktalk said it will stop so still using it as my main e mail client as it has the read receipt bit which i like and it is easy to save e mails to my desktop or a folder with just two clicks.
What are the security issues around using Outlook since it is not supported by M-soft anymore, I use Norton 360 and that is always up to date.
I don't really trust windows mail after a bad experience so when on the odd occasion i do use it i always BC myself in to the mail so i know its been sent and actually worked.

ThanksYou don't need to BCC yourself in, that's what delivery receipts are forEverything else you've mentioned you can do in any email application. Read Receipts aren't an Outlook only thing, they are supported in the webmail, Thunderbird and some other online platforms (such as Gmail). Note that a Read Receipt doesn't actually prove anything, all it will show is that the email was opened, not actually read (and people can turn those off/ignore them anyway). As time passes and email services/servers evolve they support new technologies and methods. Which Outlook 2010 will increasingly not support. Therefore your hand will be forced at some point.1 -

You really don't want to take risks with your email account as it is the gateway to all your online accounts - eg ask for a password reset and a link is sent to your email account.
The reality is probably nothing much will happen but if it does it can cost you far more than the £20 to get a supported version.
Unsupported/unpatched software has been the weakness in some of the biggest malware outages ever - eg WannaCry took most of the NHS offline after infecting around 70,000 devices. Also, Nissan and Renault halted production, Fedex were infected, not to mentioned hundreds of thousands of home users infected.
Why take a risk for the sake of saving £20?
