Co-op bank issuing only contactless cards

I have a chip-and-pin debit card as I want that additional security in case of a loss or theft.
Now Co-op has sent me a contactless card with no option of chip-and-pin only.
Are all the banks going this way or might another bank suit me better?

It's definitely the way it's going but a lot of banks let you set your own contactless limit in the app - Starling, Monzo and Halifax for example (that includes setting it to £0)The bank will cover you for fraudulent use, but it's also very each to change account if you want to.1

cut a v-shaped notch aboutv1 inch long on short side of card opposite the chip.
otherwise, nwide and fd allow non-contactless option0 -
For security add the card to Google wallet or Apple Pay.
Face id or fingerprint is needed to pay.
Better than a pin.1 -
The vast majority of people value the simplicity and ease of contactless. The trend is only going one way. As the person above suggests, use Google Wallet or Apple Pay which are more secure than contactless or chip and pin.0

I use my phone for all my payments, but I wouldn't go out without my debit card in case I dropped it or the battery went flat.Bigwheels1111 said:For security add the card to Google wallet or Apple Pay.

It's possible to cut through the contactless antenna and disable it, but at your own risk of damaging the card and breeching the bank's T&Cs0

If you claim fraudulent transactions on your card too often they will find a way to turn contactless off. They won't admit it's possible until it starts costing them money.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Are you suggesting the OP should fraudulently claim fraudulent transactions to get their card made contactless?Brie said:If you claim fraudulent transactions on your card too often they will find a way to turn contactless off. They won't admit it's possible until it starts costing them money.0 -

Presumably if you set it to £0, that still won't prevent contactless transactions which are offline?Rob5342 said:It's definitely the way it's going but a lot of banks let you set your own contactless limit in the app - Starling, Monzo and Halifax for example (that includes setting it to £0)The bank will cover you for fraudulent use, but it's also very each to change account if you want to.I consider myself to be a male feminist.
