Fixed With Sainsbury's SRv20 - Now what?

A few weeks ago I opted to take the Sainsbury's one year fix Smooth Renew v20.  It doesn't actually start until 1st Oct.  With the latest announcement where does that leave us that fixed, expecting the October price cap increase?  My cooling off period has expired but there is no exit fee on the SRv20.  Are there likely to be better tariffs from Sainsbury's or elsewhere?  I'm confused.
Give a man a fish, and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and you’ll get rid of him every weekend.

I'm in the same boat, but since our tariff doesn't start until October I'd stay where you are, and nearer the end of the month when we know what the new SVT will be then drop onto it. I'd expect most suppliers to contact people now tbh as they'll be really busy.
I'd expect thousands of people to be contacting there supplier to request moving to the SVT now, so lets just see what happens over the next few weeks.
There's no need to change supplier as they'll all be offering the same SVT capped rate.

You can (or at least I can) switch tariffs back to the soon to be government subsidised SVT on the Sainsburys website. No exit fees. I'm waiting until closer to the 1st October though as it reads like switching will change my tariff instantly rather than on October 1st when my current cheaper fixed tariff ends.
  • I am in same position but with Eon. Don't see option to switch back, I probably need to email or call them.

Sainsbury's Energy customers can switch to any tariff from Sainsbury's Energy or EON free of charge on the website, so the same should be the same for EON direct customers:

Word of warning though, changing to the SVT now will implement the change immediately, which might not be what you want if your current fix is cheaper than the current SVT !

I start with Eon 19 on 6th October - I will contact them nearer that date - they will be inundated right now.  No exit fees so I'm not too concerned

I was in the eon next v18, I sent them a message on twitter and within half an hour they have moved me on to the next flex tariff. I’m actually impressed how quickly and easily it was done considering they must be swamped right now.

I'm in the same position and my new fix doesn't start until 7th October. I imagine they'll email customers at some point before then, otherwise I'll just phone them at the end of the month to go back onto the SVR.

Have been on E.ON Next Online V15 since July 2. Will have to look at the government imposed SVR rates to decide whether to say there or revert to presumably Next Flex.

According to Martin's new post, going back on the SVR could actually be more expensive than staying on a fix? :o

Looking at the latest news, you're likely to be much better off on V15.
