Claim as a group or individually

My son plus 7 friends had their return Wizz air Cyprus flight cancelled whilst onboard the plane .

This was a Wednesday and the wizz air next flight wasn't until Tuesday.

Most of them had to get back for various reasons so they booked a Friday flight (18hrs ) via Rome landing saturday morning (£530)

They put them up in a 5* hotel but only paid for 1night , so they had to pay the rest and meals + transport back to the airport.

Obviously they want the flight and hotel money back  etc and hopefully the separate compensation money

Can you claim as a group as they dont have many separate receipts for everything IE- my son paid for all flights another paid for the hotel and so on .

It will be a lot easier to claim separately as it will be a great deal of work, stress and hassle for 1 person to claim for everyone else.

I believe that because of Hungarian law  Wizzair requires power of attorney for someone to receive refunds/ compensation on behalf of others. ( even when it is one family on one booking ) 

So if one person is going to make the claim on behalf of all the others they will need to obtain written permission from each individual to deal with the matter on behalf of their travelling companions.

They would need to submit signed documents from each of the other passengers on the booking  authorising them to receive the money  on their behalf .
