SSE Broadband Sold to TalkTalk

Options
Just found out SSE Broadband has been sold to TalkTalk in August 2022.
Heads up for anyone who didn't know, they never told me and I had terrible service from TalkTalk in the past.
I will never sign up with them, so I am looking for another contract.

SSE Broadband was actually owned by Ovo, who bought it in 2020.
And SSE Broadband was powered via Daisy Internet, which has its roots in Pipex, which was bought by Tiscali which was bought by TalkTalk.

Talktalk have only been trying to buy it since May, so they're probably just after the brand and the customer base.

In terms of available providers, you're not really going to have a lot of choice in due course if TalkTalk keeps hoovering everybody else up.  It will only leave Sky, BT and TalkTalk in the market powering the bulk of the brands at the budget end of the market.

Do not go with TalkTalk. I cant wait for my contract to end so i can move. I had a fault with no broadband & it pointed to the router. But after a call to some Asian call centre that lasted over an hour we got no ware. So i picked up another TT Router at £60, plugged it in & all was fine. About a year later, the same thing. And another hour plus trying to sort it out & no joy. I brought another one. All fix & working for about 1 more year, so i purchased another one & in 3 months the same thing. So i insisted on an engineer. 2 days later i get a call, it was an engineer who solved the problem in around 3 minutes. What happens is every now & then the router at around 3am checks for updates & downloads new firmware & for what ever reason my update wasn't fully downloading & freezing my broadband. I bet this is whaqt happened with the other two routers. They refunded me for the last router, but not for the other two.
