Alternative to Disklok?

Options
At £140:00 I can't afford a Disklok car steering wheel lock, therefore, can anyone recommend a suitable alternative?
I'm hopeless with technology, in addition, I suffer with MH issues, what may appear simple, I struggle with, may I ask, please be patient, thank you

There is a poor man's copy of the disklok, called Streetwize Urban X Steering Wheel Lock, or xlock steering lock, £40 in Halfords.

I wouldn't bother with the stop-lok types that just lock over the wheel rim, steering wheels are only a bit of wire in a plastic sheath, and the average thief will cut a section out of the wheel rim and remove the lock quicker than I typed this.

I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))
  • Thanks facade, so, steering wheel lock is out if the window

Is it worth having a Thatcham tracker installed? thing is, I don't really want a monthly or annual subscription, but in the event my car is stolen, would like to know where it is, some insurance companies offer discount if tracking device is "Thatcham" approved .

  • If worried about keyless vehicle theft, you could try a faraday pouch/box to store your keys in. It's a cheaper alternative and prevents the signal from your keys from being detected.

£40 is a lot less than a tracker, and hopefully, a glance through the window will show thieves that they might have to do a little work to steal it, so they will move onto one of the other cars in your street.

A tracker isn't much help, the best plan is to keep the car on the drive.

    What's your insurance excess?
  • Just pay the £140 for the disklok, I bought one 30 years ago after having a Vauxhall Cavalier stolen, I still have it & use it occasionally, I’ll be using it more if I manage to purchase a new to me BMW!

Nothing will deter an expert car thief but one of these might deter a "scrote" joy-rider.
