It is that assertion that was incorrect. 

Nobody is arguing that the calculations on your bills are in any way incorrect.

Notice the bolded bit ?  That will be different on every bill.  38.0 is pretty much at the bottom end of quality.

BUT! If this bill were from OCTOPUS it would probably not agree with your arithmetic.

If anyone reading this is an OCTOPUS customer, please check your calculation.

Thats the figure I ve always used . Its more or less correct to around 50 p or so
