xLife should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ~ WOO HOO what a ride!0 -
I always go to both Tesco and Asda about 4pm on Christmas Eve - everything is reduced, ready meals, meat and fruit & veg - I buy tons of stuff that does me through January, and I make soup with the veg, make curries with the meat and juice up the fruit - there's only myself and my partner and we're not really into Christmas and i don't watch TV so on Christmas night and boxing day I cook everything.
The upside as well is that both Tesco and Asda are usually quite quiet - most people want to be at home with their families by that time, and I have a lovely wander around and come out with fantastic bargains!0 -
We don't tend to get good reductions where I live anyway, I think they would rather throw things out. I have all the meats etc but unfortunately because of pay days it's worked out best for me to do my last grocery shopping tomorrow. I did pop into a Somerfield last year on Christmas eve as I forgot foil
, was barely anything left meat wise and not many reductions, very quiet aswell. If you get stuck there will no doubt be frozen lamb etc if you can defrost it on time.
I've gone for Turkey this year but to be honest it doesn't bother me what we have, we never had Turkey when I lived at home because Dad didn't like it, lasagne, duck, you name it we just had whatever we fancied so mince and tatties wouldn't bother me. Christmas isn't just about food. One day I might be more organised...........

Woohoo, it worked! Went at around half past 2 and they were immersed in reducing stuff all over the store. So, our Christmas dinner will be
Chicken liver pate (chicken livers reduced 98p - 49p)
Turkey Crown with sausage/bacon rolls, stuffing balls, gravy & bread sauce
(thought this still a bit dear at £8.49, but it is big and was half price)
Mixed winter veg (50p) which I'll roast with
potatoes (full price Booooo)
Raspberry and sherry trifle £1.74 for 87p
Also got
Deli corned beef, 2 packs (£1.06 for 21p)
Deli roast ham on the bone (£2.61 for 52p) 4 packs
Deli Sliced roast chicken (2.57 for 51p) 2 packs
Pains au chocolat (50p for 4)
Drastically reduced oranges/kiwi/bananas
Reduced bread and Muffins
Think I'll go again on New year's eve.
Have a great Christmas everyone :beer:A friend is someone who overlooks your broken fence and admires the flowers in your garden.0 -
I went to Asda at 2pm and Tesco at 3pm and came out loaded with stuff - tons of fruit, meals, topside, bread, and tons of treats unfortunately!
But, people have definately cottoned on to this - it was a total scrum in Tesco round the reduced bit, every time an assistant brought stuff out people were swarming round, Asda was a lot more civilised!0 -
Well done Jayar!!!!
