Flight Delay Compensation AND Travel Insurance

If you are applying for flight delay compensation directly from an airline - are you able to also apply for Travel Delay via an insurance policy? (It pays out for the amount of time you are delayed).

Cannot see it stated anywhere that’s it’s ok to do that.

If your insurance offers cover, it usually must be more than 12 hours before it kicks in, then there is no reason why not. The amount is normally £25 or £50 per 12 hours and you need to check to see if there is an excess which might wipe out the claim anyway
  • Just called my insurance company and I can access both - so hope this helps someone else
