Who would I call to do this job?

Good afternoon
We have 2 outside window sills that are cracked down the middle (on the second photo the part where it has been repaired before just lifts out)
We also have some brickwork that has been damaged and where bits need filling in between the bricks. The house was built in 2009.
Who would I call to have these things repaired and any idea on roughly what I should pay for this at all?
Thanks a lot

  • In all honesty, watch some YouTube videos and see if you can give it a go yourselves.
The Cills aren’t cracked, just the cement has pulled away.
If you feel you can’t attempt it, a local, recommend odd job person would be a good start - I think a builder won’t want to do it as it’s such a small job.
Do you know any builder you can bribe with Sunday lunch and a beer?

  • Out of interest, are there any cracks in the render?

Thank you for your help. Yes the render all seems fine. The house needs re-painting on the outside but there are no cracks!

I don't know what form this material takes: https://www.screwfix.com/p/no-nonsense-patio-jointing-mortar-light-sand-15kg/920pt but I suspect it'll do the bulk of these repairs very successfully.
This stuff I have used - tho' I think it's only available in grey: https://www.screwfix.com/p/no-nonsense-mortar-repair-grey-310ml/361jp but there are other brands which will include buff or sandy shades.
The latter product is superb - I was astonished at how much like sandy mortar it looks, and it sets to a firm, tough material.
That isn't a crack in your sill, I'm pretty sure, but a joint, so don't worry. Worth filling tho'.
You can DIY this - you can you can!

It's called pointing, and you need a bricklayer. But given the tiny scope of the damage, any competent handyman can do it, if they can mix up a bit of mortar.

Seriously, the one-part, ready-made stuff in tubes is great, and will be much easier to use than proper mortar.
It ain't cheap, tho', except for the savings by DIYing the job.
Anyone know what the larger tub'd stuff is made up from? Does it need water adding, for example?

Out of about a dozen posts, only one actually answered the OP's question: "you need a bricklayer. But given the tiny scope of the damage, any competent handyman can do it".
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I would use a weatherproof, paintable sealant on the joint in the window sill.

This would allow for more movement than mortar.

Someone with even modest DIY skills could clean up that joint and apply the sealant. There are probably tons of YouTube videos showing how to do that.
