I've searched everywhere but cannot find the answer.

If you have an Android phone you can get it to tell you what's been using data and how much, so if you were to install the app it might be possible to get an idea that way after you've used it for a bit1

I opened that dailymail homepage with my PC and it loaded approx 15 MegaBytes of stuff.
Then it would probably load some more each time the articles were clicked to read.See the screenshot...PSIt is a bit lighter at approx 10 MegaBytes of stuff.1 -

I've just downloaded the Telegraph and it's around 45 MB for each day.
A lot will depend on how the app is set up but I found this information in settings so hopefully you can find that kind of information in the Mail app.1
