It most likely has a 12 month or 12,000 mile service scheduled based on which comes first.
The first service was down to be done at either 12k or 12 months whichever happened first so 12 months came first.

I am not understanding whether earlier than another 12 months woulf be suitable just for oil check?
I wonder is it something as simple as the service clock not having been reset properly at the last service? The 12 month interval was clearly reset otherwise it would be saying service overdue but did they also need to reset the mileage interval as well and forgot to do so? If you’re at 11.5k and it’s saying service due in 900 miles, that wouldn’t take you much past the 12k miles. Probably best to ring the dealer and get them to confirm whether if it’s just an error in the service lights.

I had this with my Vauxhall.

The service was done at12 months but  few weeks later the oil service light came on.

Went back to the garage and he laughed saying he expected that to happen as he had not been able to update it as the service was done before the oil service was due. The computer would not let him update it.

He did it then and it took a couple of minutes.

  • Op take it to your dealer and speak to them, they will probably just need to reset the clock.  If it was reset at the last service they may need to look deeper.
  • Nissan said they think it was not reset properly at last service. As a result, they booked me in to come for a check and get it reset.

I asked for reimbursement of my petrol costs as I already paid for service and doing another trip there is through no fault of my own. They then tried to talk me through doing it on my own at home at which point I rang Nissan customer services to complain.

Nissan customer services complaints team took my details and said some manager would ring me. He tried to ring and went to voicemail so left me a message saying if I could email him with what the challenge is which is a joke as I had already explained to Nissan customer service.

Still not heard back from him?

    Any advice?

Why didn't you just try it? It's probably really simple like holding the trip in whilst switching on the ignition.

Cars on a lease so if I do something wrong by accident it becomes a challenge.

Also the Nissan people started lying after I complained saying it was not service fault but most likely car fault.

    They are so not transparent.

Really! Just go to the garage and get them to reset. Going to be awkward when you go into the garage again tho! All over a service light...

as you had it done at 12 months not 12000 miles the dealership probably forgot to reset the service reminder, I generally only ever get my car serviced at mileage not not yearly although quite often it turns out to be yearly.
