Oil or Air source decision - complete system from scratch

Thanks for everyone's help and advice. We're 99.9% decided we are going with oil and about to give the go ahead.
Before we do this tomorrow though, does anyone think today's government announcements re - energy price caps will change anything and swing it in favour of ASHP, given the price security for the next 2 years?
By my calculations we'd still realistically be at least £800 a year better off with oil and if the ASHP isn't running as efficiently as it could (quite likely by the sounds of it given people's experiences in this forum by the looks, as people get used to operating them) then it could be a fair bit more. Obviously oil price could change too though, but it sounds like the government is planning to include some kind of support as part of the announcement today.

In my view, no.
If there is any assistance for oil in the short term then that would be a bonus. But over the next few years, my money is still firmly on oil.0 -
There may be some sort of bio-oil in future but the chances are you will eventually have to move away from oil and get a heat pump. If you install radiators that work with an average water temperature of around 40 C then you will be heat pump ready and you can operate your oil boiler at maximum efficiency by ensuring that it will always be in condensing mode when operating the heating.Reed0
