It will cost over £5 a year from October just to have it plugged in and not in use. A bit annoyed at that.
A lot of people seem to suggest forget the little things but as you now know the little things make quite a large figure at the end of the year.
For some people that's a treat takeaway, one of their few treats in the upcoming year.

Has anyone tested a now tv box. The little square ones. Children's tv doesn't have apps in it and the tv itself may yet to prove to be a guzzler of the old electric. The now tv box seemed to draw a fair bit in standby working out at 16 pounds a year which so far seems to be more than all of other potential little things we used to leave on standby. I'll measure again tomorrow in case I've done dodgy maths but it did seem a lot for such a little thing.Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

Amazon fire stick has now tv app available and doesn't use much electricity at all, as it's an USB powered device.1

What are people planning on doing with all these energy monitors once you know what draws what, and what you can or can't (won't
) cut down on? Changed your habits etc?
What longer term benefit will they have?
Do they double up as smart plugs, controllable from an app?
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -

Longer term as many have found out fridges don't last forever and will usually start using more energy long before they actually break.Living the dream in the Austrian Alps.1 -

Thanks. I see the longer term benefit of having one, and moving it, say, monthly between a fridge and freezer.
But really, is this not just more plastic "stuff" possibly from China*, that will eventually make its way into the "junk drawer"

Personally I find it good to know what each thing in my house is doing/costing. Knowing something isn't on the fritz, needlessly wasting energy is a plus.
For example I just finished testing my fridge freezer over 3 days to get an averaged energy cost per day. The FF is fairly new and is using approx 800Wh per day. I will turn it down a notch next month as the colder spell starts, which should bring that usage down a little.
Will I leave it plugged in all the time? Maybe in my kids room when he stops the weekend as he has a tendency to fall asleep and leave everything switched on. The scheduler will come in very handy then as can turn off at a set time (2am lol).
I only have one and will probably lend it out to my family initially for them to test their powered goods.
What possible bearing of where it is made has to do with anything I do not know.0
