You could be used in the plural here, who's making a strange assumption?Mstty said:
Maybe she will bankrupt herself, strange to assume it's all the man's money🤔Swipe said:
Jeez, sounds like she'll bankrupt you this wintersandy700 said:My wife is complaining that she is cold and is wanting to put the heating on today, the thermostat temperature in the lounge is showing 20.3 deg C4 -
maybe I should have added "both" although didn't think it was required as they are married. And would you have made the same comment if it had been the wife complaining about the husband? My response would have been exactly the same.Mstty said:

When it gets cold, same as usual. Temperature the same, depends what it needs to be to feel warm. 68 still working part time and money from government will mean it should be no different this year. The government money is around the same as I paid for electric last year, so if the bill has doubled that is covered. I have cut down my TV package and I can not buy a new phone or as many clothes that were not really needed but nice to have, maybe not eat out as much etc. While some people really cannot cut down on things, other people don’t seem to want to. No car, public transport or bike for travel. It does sound better in papers, tv and radio to be doom and gloom, rather than pointing out trying to help yourself.Paddle No 21:wave:3

We have done the same cut back on TV packages, we are looking to go down to one car, we review spending more closely. No new phones for either of us and if one goes pop we will buy second hand as we both now have sim only contracts.

Probably only if it snows.
October and November are normally bliss for me (unless we get an indian summer then too hot).
My ideal room temp is about 17-20C, Which usually happens when outdoor temp is about high teens low 20s, which typically is only in transitions between winter and summer so months April, May and October, November.
Unless its snowing room temp in December will usually be about 13-15 which I just stick a jumper on problem solved. The months that are the coldest are usually January and February as weather lags the season. (check atmosphere temp radars and will see why). Those two months I might spend extra time under a duvet, and put extra socks on. This is what i usually do even when energy was cheaper, and as a consequence the energy companies massively over predict my winter energy usage.

Working from home will become working, cooking and eating in bed0

If she is happy being left in bed with the door shut and a draft excluder to keep the heat in, but she still needs to be able to call you, it may be worth trying a baby monitor - the sort where a 'parent' rechargeable listening unit can be relocated with you wherever you are in the house and the 'baby' unit can be plugged in by your mum's bed.in_my_wellies said:This winter I have my bedridden mum staying in one room so I'm thinking of the best way to heat her room. There is a log burner but I'm told it's too near the bed to be safe.1
