New EDF rates for Economy 7 East Midlands

4200 split 58/42 gives 2450 day and 1750 night. With those prices, that's a cost for 'typical use' of £1160+£120+£170, or £1450.
East Midlands cap was £1200 for April, planned to be £2100 on the old Oct numbers.
So that's about 20%-ish up from the April cap - looks quite plausible to me.1 -

I think that the £1200 for April was the ex-VAT figure (please correct me if I'm wrong) and putting the new rates into my spreadsheet I get an ex-VAT figure of £1373 which would make the increase 14%ish. Not outside the realms of possibility but seems strange. Unless EDF and/or the new rules are deliberately structured to encourage off-peak use. This would make sense I suppose, but I haven't seen any hint of this happening before?

You're right, that was ex-VAT. Teens of percent does seem low.[Deleted User] said:[Deleted User] said:4200 split 58/42 gives 2450 day and 1750 night. With those prices, that's a cost for 'typical use' of £1160+£120+£170, or £1450.

Encouraging off-peak can't be a bad thing at the moment, but I've seen no hints either. Perhaps EdF are thinking about attracting EV-driving switchers?0 -
I've just checked my EDF account online and it now shows their October 22 rates for Economy 7 in the My Tariff section. For East Midlands the rates are 47.31p/kWh day (up from 35.28p/kWh) and 6.90p/kWh night (down from 13.40p/kWh). The daily standing charge increases from 44.84p/day to 45.86p/day.I would be a winner on that ratio. It would save me about 25%.My current night rate (bulb - eastern) is 59.2% of the day rate.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I'm with EonNext and still waiting for information from them regarding the E7 tarrif. I'm fixed until next June at 39p day and 24p night.
I'm kind of dreading what will happen to point of anxiety especially from June next yr because we still have to do things during the day such as use oven/shower. I don't use immersion heater and haven't done for some years and use washing machine through night but other than washing machine I can't do much else to make use of off peak, especially in summer.
We had new heating put in on the gov heating grant scheme about 18 mts ago. They took storages out bedrooms and replaced with 1kw panel heaters. We can't wait until 12.30am to put them on so they are using expensive day rates before bed for hour or 2, my child's room can get as low as 9 degrees on very cold nights in winter so kind of have no choice to use it. They replaced living room with a modern storage heater-elnur- which is not great because they put a small capacity one in and not fit for large size of room so room still cold, and a elnur storage on landing which i didn't use last winter because it cannot get the hall up to the temp it is set so money down drain. It is just too cold there especially as I dry clothes on landing in winter and need that window open. So I'm just using one storage heater now in winter. I'm thinking I'm better off coming of E7, esp on the day rate prices.0 -
