Changing mind in checked baggage?

Me and a group of friends have easyJet tickets to Paris next month for a few days. One of our group booked checked baggage and the rest of us carryon, but due to the recent chaos in airports and understaffing we’ve decided checking baggage isn’t a great idea (and unnecessary for such a short trip). There’s no longer space to change to carryon but between us we have enough space in our bags to not check in this one bag.
my question is - if we just skip checking this bag will this cause us problems? Will the airline staff ask why we haven’t checked a bag? Or can we just check in online and go on with just our carryon?

You shouldn't have any issue. Just don't check in the bag and carry on.
