On my last home delivery which came to £65 when i checked my bank account i found Tesco had taken the payment twice, i emailed them and they told me it would take up to 10 days to put it back, when i told them this wasnt any good as i needed it to pay bills i just recieved a standard reply thanking me for my comments, it did take exactly 10 days to get the payment back. I was so annoyed that i wrote to Sir Terry Leheay at the head office, but of course recieved no reply. I live in the country so this service is brilliant, but dont think i would trust them not to do it again. Surely it cant be right to keep someones money for 10 days.

They are not keeping the money, it just takes a few days for it to go through the system.Gone ... or have I?0

It doesnt take 10 days to refund a payment, so yes they are keeping money that they were not authorized to take in the first place.0
-
For goodness sake, they made a mistake. These things happen!
Tesco will have to raise a refund request, get the refund authorised, and process it through their systems. Then, once it hits the bank, the transfer will take approx four days. Ten days does not seem excessive when you take all that into account.
I wish people would chill out a bit!Gone ... or have I?0 -
Without meaning to be rude dmg24, that is quite harsh. Money at christmas is tight for people. Having £65 taken twice isn't good!
I wish people would be more understanding.:A

Yes £65 can be the difference between being charged by the bank if other payments are due out. Yes Tesco do make mistakes and these things happen but asking people to chill out isn't the way really when people could be struggling with money.0

you should write to the ceo and demand compensatin - saying you know your rights and that it's theft and you want £50000000000 compensation.
As others have said it's a mistake and it CAN take that time period to refund money. Yes maybe they should have thrown in some vouchers for goodwill but it's not a legal requirement, more good business sense.0 -
they can have their 10 days but if it were me I would make it clear you want interest as well as any costs you incur as a result of not having that money for example bounced direct debit fees.
They can refund instantly if they wanted its a choice.0 -
Obviously dmg24 doesnt have any money worries which must be lovely, but i cant afford to lose that amount from my account for that period of time, as i have bills to pay, this sort of thing should not happen, and i have been in retail for 30 years certainly long enough to know that a refund can be processed much quicker than that. So if all you are going to say is chill out when people have genuine concerns that they raise, might be better to keep quite,as this is what this board is all about.0

A refund SHOULD NOT take 10 days...thats over the top!...theres nothing stopping it taking 2 days...when you pay a bill it takes 2 days max to come out of your account so whys it different??????You may walk and you may run
You leave your footprints all around the sun
And every time the storm and the soul wars come
You just keep on walking0
