This imagining myself on a canal boat is really helping. It really feels nice and peaceful. And cool (after the 38C day).11

Morning all,
Yesterday updates;
Gratitude - Grateful for all the basics today; roof over our head, food in our bellies, each other.
NSDs/ Pausing before purchasing Ended up spending on milk that we'd run out of and a scientific calculator for DDs return to school, so NSD yesterday. Won't be one today either because OH going to pick us up a camping stove (I'm getting really nervous about the potential for power cuts. It's a spend we could do without but I need it for my mental health. The thought of not being able to feed the kids fills me with utter fear.)
Yoga/Meditation nailed the yoga and meditation today. The timers on my phone to meditate at different points in the day helped a bit, but I kept being interrupted by work calls and family calls which I couldn't ignore. Going to try again today.
Eating and drinking just focussing on drinking 2L of water a day - I managed 1.5L yesterday.
Have a good day all.

Was up earlier & did an exercise video before breakfast. Had the other half of my chow mein veg & rice already made for lunch, as had made a double batch on Monday for lunch.
Started work 15mins early as a trip with another class, pleased it was slightly different due to being older children this time. The man spoke about a nebula with the same name as my Christian name, but when I told DH, he said it's spelled differently! Spoilsport 😂 the rest of the day went ok. Left early to go for my chest x-ray, then returned some baseball caps I'd been charged incorrectly for last Friday, rebought another pair with the half price sticker on, plus a couple of other items, so not a NSD, although the money spent was still less than the refunded amount. Received a call from the lady organising all my tests, the next ones will be in Aberdeen.
Went to see a customer who'd like me to make a blanket from her daughter's outgrown clothes. Dropped completed sewing at mum's & had a chat, then to a colleague's to help her fill in some forms. Home just as tea was being played up, then hand sewing on a bear afterwards. My brother phoned, he suggested me & my mum go to Aberdeen to meet him for a few days next month, rather than him travel further north to us, as accommodation really expensive for the 5 of them. VERY tired when I went to bed.
Grateful for easy tests, nice customers, helping a friend, a potential holidayUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Quick check in today as I'm running late and going to the Boy's flat. That will teach me to read long into the night.
Got lots done yesterday whilst Himself wasn't getting in my way. Dinner is made for today so that's a plus. It might let me get on with packing which is getting behind a bit.
Himself is just about to take the bins out. After the suspension of the strike there is great confusion regarding which ones are being emptied. Numerous combination of colours by the roadside. I've checked the webiste several times, read it our to Himself and we're agreed that I have interpreted it correctly. There's going to be a great deal of moaning when most of them are not collected.
Anyway, must go have a shower and get out and about.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.11 -
Will check in later. I completed my placard yesterday (did some extra preparation work in the morning) but my right shoulder down to the fingertips of my hand hurt as a result. Slightly under par (sore throat/ glands - problems yesterday and woke in pain in the middle of the night) and trying to work out the best way to contact the doctors' surgery on an urgent matter.8

Wellness Wednesday
Deciding to live means slowing down and noticing the gifts of each ordinary day. Listening as people speak, noticing their artistry and quirks. Tasting your food and noticing her touch. Offering and receiving love- no guarantees. No more hiding. No wishing yourself away. Fully receiving the sacred gift of today.
Today
Well I seem to know more of the canal than I thought I did because just down from the Wigan Flashes we come to the furthest point I've walked in that direction along the canal bank. With DS1 in his pushchair so probably 36 years ago. We veer left here, under the rail line to Golborne, running alongside Warrington Road to Dover Bridge/ Lock (there's a lovely little house there with a cottage garden at the side which some developed over a number of years from extremely inhospitable ground). At Dover bridge we cross under the roadway and follow parallel to Crankwood Road through Abram and Crankwood. This is an extremely long road, my brother lives about half way down (or up if we're coming from Leigh). I once tried to deliver letters to 2 people living near my brother. After an hour I'd reached No. 20, my brother lives in the 250s. I gave up. Just one long winding road with only 2 side streets one of which has 2 additional tiny cul de sacs. Last time I walked up there, they were building a new estate of the patch of land nearest the point where we enter the top western end of Leigh. The land behind Crankwood Road is mainly split into farms. The land on our left is slightly posher - a few 'Halls' and 'houses' (large farm buildings rather than stately homes) a brook and areas with nothing but ancient footpaths.
More Dave Ramsey Tips

Only take out a fifteen year mortgage

Got in touch with the surgery and have a phone back appointment with a doctor next Tuesday morning. Receptionist will try to get the pill increase in place before I reorder (pharmacy has been engaged so far) but I have emphasised that it must go through even if their system says it's not due yet (I've been taking the 3 a day but the last prescription only had the 2 a day on it). I tried the online system first but then phoned because they do a sort of half day closing on Wednesday (think they are still there working but don't answer the phone or staff the online system).
I've been to introduce myself to the solicitors I want to act for me over the bungalow sale (I didn't want them receiving a donkey load of paperwork from the EA about a woman they'd never heard of) and went to get cash (for my brother/ Mr and Mrs Builder - some already in the drawer) and a few basic items (all soft to eat because of my sore throat). Going to do the mask and weekly hose clean and may do the once a month filter change too, then will chip away at the paperwork.
Grateful for ice lollies, rice pudding and soup (already in) plus yoghurt and drinks and jelly babies.10 -
I like some of Dave Ramsey's tips but a 15 year mortgage is perhaps a stretch!
Cycled to my friend's first thing to walk her dog, cycled back home. Then cycled to the station and to work at the other end, currently on the train home now. Definitely ticked the exercise box for today. Have eaten well too, just hoping I also sleep well!
Not much else to report, no spends which is the main thing, work kept me busy which helps. Last day tomorrow and it's going to be a long one, out of the house at 8am and unlikely to be home before 8pm. But I'll survive!
Looking forward to a nice hot bath when I get in. Also grateful that I somehow dodged all the rain on my various trips out and about today!10 -
Hi turtles, hope everyone has had a good day.
Was a busy day at work for me. Still on NSD 4 as bf did a small top up shop. He also cobbled together €7 in 5 cent pieces and spent it all on chocolate.Morning pages and meditation have been done, and I went for a walk at lunch.I am grateful for managing to scrape together an unplanned lunch, for bf cooking tea, for successfully forcing myself to leave the office at lunchtime for fresh air. I would like to try only using cash.... and 15 year mortgage (or no mortgage) would be a great thing to aim for xxStudent loan £5655
House deposit €32,667K/€40k9
