How late in notice period can I request PAC code?
Options
I have a monthly SIM-only contract where the minimum period has passed so I only need to give a month's notice to leave. I want to take up similar with a different supplier but with as few days overlap as possible, meaning I will have to delay the application for up to 4 weeks. Old supplier states I will lose my number at the end of the notice period, so how late can I leave it to retain it? I know little about PAC codes and have never had one before.

It’s either give notice OR use a PAC you don’t do both.As long as your past your minimum period you can use a PAC at any point. You’ll get a final bill crediting any unused period you’d paid for.3

You mean the moment I give my notice the number will be lost (in a month's time)? I thought you could only get a PAC by giving notice. I was hoping they might contact me to get me to stay, which I would do if they could match the deal I can get elsewhere. I'm with ID.0

Requesting a PAC is not giving notice, using it is.2 -
You can forget about giving notice, just request and obtain your PAC from ID. Using it within 30 days will terminate the ID service Immediately and any unused paid-for period will be credited (if PAC is unused, that service continues). ID may well ask what you intend moving to, when or after your PAC is issued, to see if they can retain you.

Presumably (I can't see any mention) you get PAC from current provider, give it to new provider and the number transfers across a 'short while' later?
