How to find cheaper flights with connection at a certain airport?

The murky world of airline tickets is sometimes illogical. Direct flights from A to B can be significantly more expensive than flights from A to C via B. So, if I fly one way (sic!) how do I find cheaper flights to anywhere but with connection in certain airport? I will then fly my first leg and then will not turn up for a second leg saving some cash.

That is a risky strategy: does not work on no-frills airlines; does not work with return tickets; does not work with checked luggage. And there is always the risk that you might be re-routed: some operations reason could mean that instead of beginning a journey to C via B, you might be put on a 'plane going direct to C or to C via Z.

That's why I said one way, as an airline will cancel the return ticket as a revenge.
But, accepting all the risks you described, how do people do that?

How exactly can this help with what I want to achieve?

Read the links that I provided and see what you can work out for yourself.  If you don't have any checked baggage, it's very doable, but absolutely not encouraged in any way by the airlines. skiplagging

You have to ensure you meet the requirements for entry to the final destination otherwise you won't get to board the first flight

It's not revenge, you need to keep to the terms of the ticket which may be priced depending on market conditions.

You will need to meet the entry requirements for C in addition to B and the airline may re-calculate your fare and bill you for this (Lufthansa has been known to do this), as you are agreeing in the contract you will enter into.

Well, it is not murky neither illogical, if you are referring  mainly to  budget airlines. As Michael O'Leary call it "You pay nothing You get Nothing".

One way of doing what you want is to do a desk work searching using flight search engine. The search engine like "sky scanner", "kayak", "opodo" ,etc  allow you to search the cheapest "non direct" flight even it will mean you will need to change ti several times.

I'm not aware of any budget airlines using that pricing model (where A to B costs more than A to C via B )?  It seems to me more likely that OP is looking for flights to/via the hub of a full service airline, such as flying Emirates only as far as Dubai, rather than all the way on to a further destination priced lower than only the first leg would be.
